Tea Room

Our ever popular tea room is run entirely by volunteers who will give you a friendly welcome and provide information about the Centre, Church and the Valley.

We are open on Saturdays and Sundays from April to the end of October,  Sundays during the winter months and some bank holidays, keep an eye on our events page for the details.  We offer a full range of refreshments except the last weekend in the month when we are closed to the public and instead offer a relaxed social lunch for members only.

1 November to 31 March – Sundays, 11am-4pm

1 April to 31 October – Saturdays & Sundays, 11am-4pm.

Our menu

Our light meals, made to order, include a range of sandwiches all served with fresh salads and crisps, and savoury pork pies locally sourced, as well as vegetarian options.

Each time we are open we offer a range of at least six homemade cakes baked by our splendid volunteers.  For example, Kath’s coffee & walnut, Cynthia’s flapjack, Jean’s millionaire shortbread, Sarah’s brownies, Britta’s Bakewell tart, Jane’s coconut & lime, Sue’s rich chocolate, Di’s whole orange, Sally’s scones and plenty more.

Our ingredients

We are grateful to our supporters who supply produce from their gardens in season and make jams and chutneys.  Ann’s spicy apple chutney is a favourite.  The eggs we use are generally free-range and come from Kath’s hens where possible.  Usually Simon & Becky Ltd of Otley support us with the supply of salad ingredients and Fewston Farm Shop supply our savouries.  A variety of speciality teas and coffees is on offer, with an alternative choice of milk.

Our reputation

This is what some of our visitors have said ….”What brilliant orange drizzle cake…Fantastic gluten free cake…Heavenly chocolate cake…The Bakewell tart was delicious…Loved the sticky chunky apple cake……Extremely good lemon curd cake…11 out of 10 for the superb courgette cake“.

Come and try it for yourself!

Our exhibitions

As well as the permanent exhibition in Church, in the Tea Room there are also colourful and fascinating exhibitions about the heritage of the Washburn Valley.  These change every few months.  If you  have missed any of our previous exhibitions you can always view them in our Archive.
