Volunteers celebrate with the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire

A truly memorable event was held on Wednesday 2 June here at the Heritage Centre.  Sitting socially distanced in Fewston Church, we welcomed our Volunteers along with Mrs Jo Ropner, the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire and Mr Simon Theakston, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, together with three special guests from the early days of the Centre before its opening in 2011 – Rita Lawson, Sylvia Johnson and David Stocker.  Rita was the Economic Development Manager at North Yorkshire County Council and involved in the LEADER programme, Sylvia was PA to then Archdeacon of Bradford (Ven David Lee) and David represented Nick Rochford of the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Centre looked wonderful – the sun shone, the doors were open and Volunteers and friends stood outside enjoying the evening with a glass of fizz and a slice of birthday cake.  The Yorkshire Post popped in and took some photographs which will be in the press later this week.

Our Queen’s Award was much admired and will be on display in the Centre very soon.
