Spotting feathered visitors!

7am saw our intrepid bird watchers gather for a walk led by Paul Wheatley, the Leeds Birder!  They weren’t disappointed.  This photo, taken by Sam Swallow (yes, Swallow!) shows our group enjoying the morning, and spotting heron, grebe redshanks and lots of swallows.  They were rewarded with bacon sandwiches back at the Heritage Centre.  I wonder if they went back home to bed for a couple of hours after such an early start?
