Our judges had to take their time when studying the 35 entries for this competition, which formed part of the Near and Far programme over the summer. Simon Hill (our Chair), Rebecca Campbell (Management Committee) and Hollie Elliot (Elliot Photography) met at the end of September and were impressed by the range of photographs, taken from as far away as Capetown, to the Lake District, and nearer to home in the Washburn Valley. Our winner is Paul Kirk, and his magnificent photograph of a kingfisher is shown in this article.
In second place came William Delves with his serene photograph of ‘Derwentwater in the Morning’, followed by Derek Middleton with his haunting image of ‘Ghosts of Industry at Saltburn Beach’. These photographs, along with two entries from Julia Collington and Jean Middleton, which earned Certificates of Merit, are shown in this article and can also be viewed in our latest Newsletter. If you would like a copy of the Newsletter, please give the office a ring.
Well done to all who took part in our First Annual Photography Competition.
