David Bishop and Rob Goymer, members and volunteers at the Heritage Centre, treated us to a performance of four comic monologues written by Marriott Edgar for Stanley Holloway at supper earlier in June. Three of the monologues were humorous accounts of what might have happened in some of the most notable events in history: Noah and his Ark, the Battle of Hastings and the Magna Carta. The fourth and the most well known was the Lion and Albert.
Our catering volunteers produced a delicious three course supper, rounding off with Eton Mess. It was a fantastic evening, thoroughly enjoyed by our guests. There is another supper coming up in our current programme and that is on Thursday 26 September at 6.30pm when we celebrate harvest … with music to enjoy.
