Professor Kate Giles is one of our most popular speakers and after fascinating us with the wonders of Pickering Church wall paintings and the mystery of the Middleham Jewel, she is now prepared to share some of the findings from a current project with Historic Palaces and the universities of York and Newcastle which are exploring the Royal progresses.  Why did Henry embark upon these summer peregrinations?  What was their impact then, and legacy today?  Henry’s 1541 Progress was one of the very few occasions when he ventured north.  We recommend early booking for Kate’s talk.  Light refreshments served.  Cost £10 member, £12 non-member.
