Welcome to the Washburn Heritage Centre

‘A hidden gem’ run by volunteers to celebrate the heritage of the wonderful Washburn Valley. A stunning extension to Fewston Church, it’s free to come in!

The Centre features exhibitions about the heritage of the Valley, and we run an extensive programme of events including walks, workshops, talks and courses. At weekends there is a popular Tea Room featuring a wide selection of homemade cakes. The Centre is fully accessible and is available for hire.

Roger Chapman, our favourite explorer, is returning to the Centre to enthral us with a talk about a large expedition to the east coast of Greenland which has some pretty dramatic landscapes of snow-covered mountains and icy fjords, as well as ferocious winds blowing up to 90 miles an hour down from the ice-cap.  We can appreciate our moderate Yorkshire climate as we are transported to the wilds of the north!  Light refreshments served.  Cost £10 member, £12 non-member.
